I am 6th year of alumni and the alumni chairman elected through the regular general meeting last May. I wish I could visit each of you but I hope you understand that I had no choice but to greet you by writing. My dear alumni, The environment surrounding us - such as the division of roles of doctors and pharmacists, medical insurance, professional dentists systems, medical conflict, the opinion of the people including that of civic groups - has been changing rapidly and whether we want or not, it also demands us to change, too. In this obscure and lonely situation, the only place we can trust and depend on, I think, is our Kyung Hee University Dental College Alumni. In this regard, I'd like to expect the 21th century to be the first year you need this alumni following the period when alumni need you. My fellow alumni ! I am proud to say that our alumni consists of more than 2000 members and they are taking major roles in the dentistry field throughout the country, standing tall as the central axis in this field. Our junior members recorded the best scores among the 11 dental colleges nationwide at the national examination this year with garnering the highest score for the past two years. Moreover, the construction plan of the dental college buildings with the size of 3500 pyong(*a unit of area : 1 pyong= 3.954 sq. yds) and the cost of 20 billion won was finally approved by the president late last year. This provides the foundation for enabling the school to make a leap by solving the problem of narrow spaces, which helps us recover from deeply hurt pride due to the low point we received in facility category in a paper's evaluation of each dental college last year. Dear alumni, I already promised the following at my last inauguration speech. -Active support of the movement of paying school tuition one more time -Academic seminars touring the local branches -Holding the Presidential Cup Charity Golf Tournament -Regular conversation between the president, professors, and students -Publication of "ISAKEUM" - our alumni bulletin and establishment of lifelong alumni fees etc. I'd like to emphasize that all these activities will not easily be realized without your enthusiastic participation and support.
Dear alumni, Trust me and support me. The dedicated officers including me will be on the fore front. I expect your encouragement and concerns in the future. Thank you.
August, 2000 The Alumni Chairman of the Kyung Hee University Dental College Kim, Seong-Uk |
