Dear Kyung Hee graduates.
I am so pleased to have this opportunity to write you while we did not recognize it. It is almost 5 months has passed since I¡®d been promoted to dean of dental college. In the mean time, many important things have been done such as transformation of dental college to graduate dental school, and graduate entrance ceremony. etc. in addition to general operations of the college.
During that period, I have been visiting regional alumina of Cheongju, Busan, Gwangju, Pohang, Daejeon, Daegu, Suwon, Changwon, Goyang, Nowon-gu, Seocho-gu & Seongbuk-gu of Seoul to meet with members of each local areas.
I will visit anywhere I can meet with you and try to get your good ideas which will be reflected for me to manage the college in the future.
I am going to organize meeting participated by district chairman and the members, who donated scholarship fund to the college. In addition to have a opportunity to invite parents of each grade respectively, for explaining about our school. Furthermore, I have to establish the parents committee, in order to utilize their speciality into the development of our college.
Some people says that ordinary people thinks of more than fifty thousands thoughts in a day. But only less than two thousands are new, and the rest of thoughts are duplicated. If we implement just one thoughts among two thousands, I think we can make a new world.
It means that we have immeasurable capacity for improvement but we use only a small part of it just like ordinary people uses 3 ¡ 5% of computer's whole capacity.
Dear Kyung Hee graduates.
I have too many things that I have to do and also I wish to do, after I became dean of dental college. We do not live alone, we live in a society which requires comparison with other people.
In another word, we live in a competition world. I understand that most of you make a money by running your won dental office, I found that most of you are same in the field what you do but very different in a ways how you do your job. In a same way, college have to find out new ways to be better one than the others just like you do in a competition with other dentists.
To achieve that goal, I believe we must start by being honest. I mean that we have to admit reality and try to find out a breakthrough. We are going to do our utmost offers to keep our college the best one that you can be proud of.
I am writing a letter to Kyung Hee graduates as a dean of Kyung Hee dental college. This letter is composed of nine subject which one graduates asked me prior to answering his questions.
I told him that I have been wanted to explain about those subjects to all the graduates before I was asked by him. After my explanation, many of graduate alumni asked me to write a letter to all the graduates about what I explained and told me it will be worthwhile.
The subjects are as follows.
1. We are going to construct a new building for dental college.
2. Kyung Hee dental college transformed to graduate dental school aiming to raise an able dentist by selecting students who has enough quality for dentist instead of selecting by SAT record, We are in a situations which requires us reformation, without mentioning specifically we know where we are. I know well that some graduates say "good you done well" while others say "No, Don't do that, why you want to go that way which everybody does not go." But important things is that we have to get together for the success of decision we made, In this regard, I need your support.
3. Dental college home page.
We set up cyber educational center and museum sponsored by Shin Heung Co. in order to provide information about our college and dental office.
For the good management of home page, your consistent interests are needed along with financial support.Please share your good ideas with us.
4. To strengthen solidarity between Kyung Hee Graduates.
As I promised to be a active dean, I will visit any place where Kyung Hee Graduates are, regardless whether the location is big city or small local city. I found that some graduates felt lonely in a certain area surrounded by other dental college graduates. I am going to encourage them up again. I was deeply moved in my heart when one pregnant graduate came to me and said "I missed senior Kyung Hee graduates, that's why I came to you." She ran an dental office at that time, in the city where Kyung Hee graduates fell to minority owing to two local dental colleges.
In case of Pohang, Kyung Hee graduates were only seven but they get together solidly and made Kyung Hee's name famous in the city, furthermore, they committed to donate 24 million won for development fund, and one of them already sent his all of allotment, thank them again and I will do my best to make a good college and you will be proud of being Kyung Hee graduates.
5. Regarding operations of college.
I discussed with many graduates about operations of the college including graduate dental school and out professors, etc. and exchanged many good ideas with them. I will try to make the atmosphere that graduates feel close relationship with the college.
6. Development fund(1993. 1. 1 ¡ 2002. 2. 26)
During above period, graduates committed 1,241,200 thousand won and the faculty committed 115,800 thousand won, grand total 1,357,000 thousand won. Among the above committed amount, actual donated amount was 620,950 thousand won by the graduates and 86,563 thousand won by the faculty, totaled 707,513 thousand won. I think I have to explain about fund management which most of the graduates want to know. All the expenditure of the fund can be executed under the approval of development committee.(Committee is composed of college dean, head of hospital, chief of college operations, chairman of graduate alumni, 3 professors, 3 graduates.)
For your reference, I remind you that donated amount is deductible item on your fax report of year end.
7. Scholarship fund.
The first message after my inaguration was from one of graduated organization notifying that they would stop sending scholarship fund. After nearing that message, I reflected myself that college haven't eoncerned about graduates well enough. Now I will let them go with the graduates because graduate's supports are absolutely needed for their sound operations.
8. Symposium & academic contest.
We have a dentistry program in the college. But in order to share the time with the graduates.
We are going to have a Kyung Hee Dentistry Symposium in the first half and Kyung Hee Academic Contest in the second half of this year. The symposium is scheduled on June 23 at Hotel Hilton and the topic of the symposium is about implantation all the graduates who have much interest in this topic will be invited to the symposium. I expect if will be a useful time for the attendance.
9. Cooperative dental office.
I am going to make as many cooperative dental clinic as I can in order to provide the students with actual clinical training and connect the graduates with dental clinic for the solution of their problem. There are many good dental clinic owned by Kyung Hee graduates. I will develop the method to help each other.
As I mentioned in the beginning I have many things to do and wish to do. But all these things will not be done by myself and will not be done only with financial support. It can be done when you are with me. Looking back in the past, We feel happy with the achievement we made.
If we made every conceivable efforts to get the goal we set up.
